Our Boy Scout Troop ran a week-long highadventure trip to Iceland in August. We had a fantastic time! It is an easy nonstop flight from Boston. The staff at Úlfljótsvatn Scout Centre was very helpful in planning our trip, and gave us great suggestions for activities and places to visit.

Accommodations at the camp were comfortable and the food outstanding. Much of the success of our trip was due to the support and advice from our new scouting friends at Úlfljótsvatn. There is so much to see and do in beautiful Iceland — we can’t wait to go back!

On behalf of the Mad Hatters Explorer Scout Unit I would like to thank you and all the team at Úlfljótsvatn Scout Centre for helping us to have such an incredible trip to Iceland. As no-one from
our District had ever visited Iceland before, your patience and support in answering all our queries
and helping us plan a fantastic programme was invaluable.

The setting of the camp site is ideal because it is surrounded by stunning scenery and there is so much you can do on-site. We spent 12 nights staying in the KSU Hut, did different activities every
day and the Explorer Scouts are all keen to return.

There were so many highlights of the trip that it would be virtually impossible to mention all of them but the trip to the mountain hut via the natural thermal springs was a unique experience, the glacier trek was awe-inspiring and the water sports were great fun.

So many people told me that Iceland would be expensive but the activities were good value, especially the swimming, and your support in enabling us to self-cater meant that we came in well under budget.

There are many great reasons to visit Iceland but the Mad Hatters Explorer Scouts all agreed that it
was the friendliness of the Icelanders that made it such a memorable experience. We will be back.
